Established in 1971, the club was initially founded as a Community Centre Club using the two school courts on Station Rd (now houses). We initially used a wooden shed and ran a ladies team in the Leics league. A men’s team soon followed. Expansion began by a parent deciding to run a junior session for a handful of children on Saturdays.

The club moved location in the early 1990s when the High School built four new courts and allowed usage outside school time. At that time there was no club house or changing facilities. During this time we expanded to two men's, two ladies and two mixed junior teams.

Saturday morning junior sessions attracted 20 to 40 juniors. It became increasingly difficult to run the club as we would have liked due to the limited court allocation time we had. By 1998, the club had completely outgrown the facilities. Membership continued to increase and the club looked into the possibility of moving to a new site.

In 1999 the present site was secured at the Dixie Grammar School playing fields with a 99 year lease. In 2001 the club secured funding of £300,000, part of which was £187,619 from a Sport England Lottery Grant. Building commenced on the six hard courts, three of them floodlit, and the brick built club house with parking, which are our present facilities. The official opening was held in August 2002
