Mini Tennis Exploits

Mini Greens 15th May 2010

We won overall 4-2.

Singles

Ethan won his games

4-1 4-1
Luke won his games 4-1 4-0

Sam won his games

4-1 4-0

Ellen lost her games

1-4

0-4

All players played really well, Ellen’s result doesn’t justify her games as she played well and

this was the first match she had played.

Doubles

Ethan and Luke won 4-1 in the first set and on a tie break in the second.  Ethan rallied on

regardless even though he was having Major problems running as he went over on his ankle

during the first set. They both worked really well as a team, talking to each other and

swapping positions so that Ethan could stay at the net and not run about too much.

Sam and Ellen won their first game 4-2, lost their second game 2-4 and lost the 3rd game on

a tie break 7-10. They both played well together with Sam taking charge as

again Ellen didn’t have the experience of playing doubles but they were calling for the

ball and it was a good game.

Thanks to all who played and well done!

More Mini  Adventures 16th May

2010

Well done to the orange team for

winning division 3

Many thanks to everyone for playing really well yesterday and for all the parents and supporters who turned out to encourage the teams.

The orange team had another successful morning with a 10-0 win over Loughborough. The result does not do justice to the Loughborough players, some of whom had deadly serves. The orange team then went onto beat Grangewood 8-2 The two losses were fiercely contested with our players perhaps losing the games but being winners in their on-court manner and sportsmanship.

The white team were again a player short and therefore forfeited 3 games from each match. However there was good play and I hope the players enjoyed their mornings efforts and came away having learnt something. Their results were 8-2 losses against both Market Harborough and Oakham.

That's the end of the team events for this summer but I hope all the players will be encouraged to have a go at individual events.

Details can be found on the LTA website under yearbook for Leicestershire.

I would like to thank Elena who gave up her Sunday morning to support us by refereeing many of our matches. It does make a massive difference to the players when they know that someone else is keeping score.

Mini Orange Competition 25th April

Well done to everyone for playing well today and to all the parents for helping out with

transport, umpiring and supporting the players.

The Orange Team came away having beaten Kibworth "A" 8-2 and a 10-0 whitewash of

 Leicestershire.

The White Team were at a disadvantage from the start having only 3 players but managed 3

wins against Lutterworth "B" with the final result 3-7 and also 3 wins against Roundhill with

the same final result.  For many of the white team and Rory from the Orange Team this was

their first competition so they should all be pleased with their performance.

We are hoping for a full team on Sunday 16th May at Knighton Tennis Centre where Lydia

joins the Orange Team and swaps with Katie.

Our opposition on this date is Loughborough and Grangewood for the Orange Team and

Market Harborough and Oakham for the Whites.

The Orange team start at 9am and should be finished at 12.45pm. The Whites start at 11.30

finishing at 2pm. I’ll email everyone again nearer the date to remind of timings and venue

just in case there are any last minute changes.

If you went home with a t-shirt that I gave out this morning – then hang onto it for the 16th.

Our “helper” Jamie Waring deserves a big thank you for umpiring numerous matches and giving

 up his Sunday morning.

To fill you all in on how we did
24th April:-

Well done to all the team members today. I hope you all had a really good time and that you didn't find the day too long. I know for the "B" squad the third set of matches were particularly

The "A" squad played Oadby and won 9 - 7 Later they played Hamilton C and won again 10 - 6. Lets hope that we can keep up our winning streak on the 8th May!

The "B" squad played all their matches today so will not be playing again on the 8th May.
First match v Market Harborough B was a thriller an 8 all draw.
Second match v Lutterworth was also close however we lost 9 - 7
In our last match v Oakham we played really well against higher ranked players and came out with another draw.
I am not sure where this leaves us in terms of the division 4 teams but I'm sure that we will be notified soon.

Thanks again to all parents for your help and support. I could not have put this together without you. Special thanks to Natalie Milner and Helen Buckingham for giving their time so generously to support our teams.

Last little note. Anyone with a RED shirt from this afternoon, please can you wear it again on the 8th and Ill have them back afterwards....ready for next time..!
